Door-to-Door Scotland Tours Departing London

Departing from London on the first leg of our trip to Scotland, we travel to the medieval city of York. Here, you have the option to break the journey with a stopover in the famous University City of Cambridge. With time to savour some cultural delights, such as a punt ride on the River Cam from the Magdalene Bridge or a leisurely stroll around the thirteenth-century University Gardens.

After lunch, our journey continues north to the medieval City of York for our first overnight stay.

After breakfast and leaving your accommodation, you can immerse yourself in the living history of York. Meander through the narrow, cobbled streets of the Shambles, or visit the breath-taking spectacle, York Minster – the largest Gothic church in England.

Indulge in a Yorkshire beer and a local lunch in an old inn before travelling across the border to Bonnie Scotland.

The evening’s accommodation is in the historic town of Melrose, sheltered by the triple peaks of the Eildon Hills in the Scottish Borders.

Fresh and ready for the day, we will explore Edinburgh, visiting the iconic Edinburgh Castle before taking time to stroll through Scotland’s ancient capital. Afterwards, we can enjoy lunch in an old Edinburgh pub on the Royal Mile before continuing on your Scotland tour.

Leaving Edinburgh behind, we take the short journey to South Queensferry, for a photo stop of the iconic 3 bridges that span the River Forth. Each bridge built in each of the last three centuries connects Lothian into the Kingdom Of Fife.

Crossing the new ‘Queensferry Crossing’, we join the Fife Coastal Tourist Route. Touring through the East Neuk of Fife you will visit the small fishing villages of Elie, St Monans and Crail. Our final destination of the day is the beautiful old University town of St Andrews also known as “The Home of Golf’.

After some free time in St Andrews we travel into Perthshire to visit Scone Palace and Moot Hill where bygone Kings were crowned on the Stone of Destiny.

Traversing through the Cairngorm Mountain Range on your great Scottish Touring adventure, we will arrive at the capital of the Highlands, Inverness.

Overnight stay in Inverness.

In the morning, you can opt to visit Cawdor Castle in Nairn or Urquhart Castle on the banks of Loch Ness. Time allowing you can also visit Culloden Battlefield before trying to get a glimpse of ‘Nessie’ as we travel south through the Great Glen to the fishing town of Oban in Argyle.

The evening’s overnight stay will be in Oban.

Absorb yourself in the stunning landscapes, as we travel into Clan Campbell territory, deep into Argyll, where you can visit the Duke of Argyll’s residence, Inveraray Castle.

You can enjoy lunch in the historic, old George Inn, before travelling through the Arrochar Alps to the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond.

Visiting the picturesque village of Luss on the banks of Loch Lomond, we then drive south to the beautiful seaside town of Largs.

Leaving Largs, we travel through Ayrshire to Alloway to visit Scotland’s National Bard Robert Burns birthplace. Discover the inspirational Auld Kirk and the Brig’ of Doon where the inspiration of ‘Tam o Shanter’ came to life.

A spectacular scenic coastal road trip takes you on a journey to the Rhins of Galloway, in southwest Scotland. From the most southerly point in Scotland, the Mull of Galloway, you may be lucky enough to see the shores of Ireland, weather permitting.

Time allowing, you can stop off at the Crafty Distillery in Newton Stewart to taste multi award winning gin before departing for the quaint picturesque fishing town of Kirkcudbright.

Admire the rural coastal scenery in Dumfries and Galloway as you visit Dundrennan Abbey, Sweetheart Abbey and Caerlaverock Castle en route to the Lake District.

The 13th-century moated Caerlaverock Castle, a triangular designed fortress, was home to the Maxwells. It has been destroyed, besieged and rebuilt many times during its momentous history.

We now travel south, over the Scotland-England border to the beautiful lakes. On the penultimate day of your Scotland Tour from London, you will stay overnight in the Lake District.

On the final day of your Scotland Tour from London, you may opt for a relaxing sail on Lake Windermere, the largest freshwater lake in England. The local company Windermere Lake Cruises offer majestic trips on old-fashioned steamers or modern sightseeing vessels.

Alternatively, you can relax and enjoy a spectacular scenic drive through the region’s beauty spots, before taking the last leg of your journey back to London.
