South Queensferry Shore Excursion (Edinburgh)

Cruise Ship Shore Excursions from South Queensferry Traditional Tourist Trip This tour has the itinerary that many visitors to our country associate with Scotland when wishing to explore as much as they can in one day. We begin the excursion by you being greeted with your tour guide, the Kilted Piper at South Queensferry port. We proceed on to the historic and stunning Stirling Castle, with breathtaking surroundings and highland cattle grazing in a nearby field. You can explore the castle at your leisure and take part in the tours of the castle, offered by the custodians.  From there, you are free to enjoy lunch in many of the city’s recommended restaurants and cafes, then have some retail therapy time if you wish. Alternatively, we can proceed on to Deanston Whisky distillery, boasting some of the country’s finest whisky. You may also lunch here if that is more to your liking than in the city. There will also be the opportunity of a tour and to sample the whisky distilled here. We conclude the excursion with a visit to one of our most famous battlegrounds, Bannockburn. This was the site of Scotland’s most famous victory in the war of independence in 1314, led by Robert the Bruce. There is a visitors centre on site also, which offers the opportunity of participating in battle re-enactments and an impressive walk through 3-D tour of the battle itself.   You shall then be returned to your ship, stopping off for any photo opportunities you may wish on the way.

Shore excursions from Invergordon

Cruise Ship Shore Excursions from Invergordon Loch Ness Highlands Tour You will be met at the Port of Invergordon by the kilted piper, and your tour will commence with a drive through the scenic Highlands towards the historical, famous Loch Ness (remember to bring your fishing net to capture Nessie). Our first port of call is the stunning Urquhart Castle, set in spectacular surroundings overlooking the mystical Loch Ness. Here you will have ample time for photo opportunities of Loch Ness and the castle. This is a must-see for tourists visiting the highlands. We continue our Highland journey to Culloden Battlefield, for many tourists, one of the most powerfully emotive and poignant locations experienced on their visit to Scotland. Here being the setting for the last battle of the Jacobite rising in 1746, a brutal bloody end to the supporters of Bonnie Prince Charlie, ‘The Young Pretender’. Many have described the site as ‘eerie’. A chance to experience a trip back in time and participate in a Living History Presentation and viewing the clothing, weapons etc is an option available to those who wish to further explore this historical location and Jacobean times. We then make a very short journey to Clava Cairns, (the Prehistoric Burial Cairns of Bulnuaran of Clava) a group of three Bronze Age cairns located near Inverness. These cairns are exceptionally well-preserved prehistoric site. Clava Cairns is hugely significant of a distant history of Highland Scotland, dating back about 4,000 years.  A post note..this site was the inspiration for Craigh na Dun,  featuring in the period series, ‘Outlander’. We shall break for lunch for approximately an hour at one of our recommended eateries in the areas en route to our next location. Concluding our excursion, we think no Scottish tour is complete without a visit to a whisky distillery. We will arrange a tour of one of our famous distilleries offering you a tasting session and a chance to discover the methods of distilling Scotland’s national tipple. Throughout the tour, we will be happy to stop for photo opportunities on request. We will then take a scenic drive back to Invergordon in plenty of time to meet your ship ***NB*** If you prefer to spend your offshore time exploring our national sport of golf, we can offer the opportunity of a round of golf at one of our beautiful scenic set courses within the Highlands, with a whisky distillery tour to enjoy a wee dram before departing our Scottish shores. At Kilted Piper Tours, we pride ourselves on being flexible, to create your tour the way you want it and make your time with us a memorable one. ”It’s not just a trip..it’s an adventure.”
